Real-time voice translation for Twilio.
Taiwa translates live calls in a Twilio-powered console in real time, in both directions.
Bring your own DeepL, OpenAI or Gemini key. Every account starts with 60 minutes free.
Inside Twilio, in both directions.
Taiwa runs in a Twilio-powered call console using the Voice SDK. Both call legs are translated live.
If your team takes calls in a browser-based console built on Twilio Voice, Taiwa reads the call's audio in that page and adds real-time translation, both directions.
Your Twilio numbers, routing and flows are untouched. Taiwa is the translation layer on top of the call, not part of the telephony.
How it works on Twilio
- 1
The call arrives in Twilio as it does now — Taiwa doesn't touch your routing.
- 2
The extension reads both sides of the call in the agent's browser. Nothing is uploaded to us.
- 3
Audio streams to your translation supplier over an encrypted connection and comes back translated — with the transcript.
37 languages, any pair
Not only to and from English. Set the agent's language and the customer's separately, and both sides of the call are translated.

You bring your own key — DeepL, OpenAI or Google Gemini — and that supplier bills you for the translation. We charge £2 per active user a month, £150 minimum, with no minute charges from us. An active user is someone who actually translated something that month. Every account starts with 60 minutes free on our key.

- Does Taiwa work with the Twilio Voice SDK?
- Yes. Taiwa runs in a browser-based call console built on the Twilio Voice SDK and translates both call legs.
- Do I need to change my Twilio setup?
- No. Your numbers, routing and call flows stay as they are.
- Which languages does Taiwa translate?
- 37 languages — among them English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Swedish, Arabic, Hindi and Turkish — in any pair, not only to and from English. That is the DeepL Voice list. On an OpenAI or Gemini key, that supplier's own list applies.
- What does it cost?
- Two bills. You bring your own key from DeepL, OpenAI or Google Gemini, and that supplier charges you for the translation — on DeepL, roughly €6 an hour of call on a committed agreement. We charge £2 per active user a month, £150 minimum, for the platform, with no minute charges. Every new account starts with 60 minutes free on our own key so you can try it before either contract exists.
- Is the translation accurate?
- The translation comes from the engine you choose — DeepL, OpenAI or Google Gemini. We don't reproduce any supplier's accuracy figures here — the honest test is to try it on your own calls, in your languages. Taiwa is not a substitute for a certified human interpreter, and it is not for regulated calls (medical, legal, safeguarding or financial advice).
Try it on your own Twilio calls.
